Cyclocross Season has Arrived

Padden Duathlon from The Herald
Early Fall is always a spectacular time of the year for running, riding and reminding yourself of the reasons we live and play in the Northwest.  The sun shines and warms the body throughout the day while the evenings have a cold bite that makes your skin tingle.

It's also a time to welcome dark beer, mud and Cyclocross!   Having completed several running races over the last month and the Lake Padden Mountain Bike Duathlon this last weekend , I'm 100% primed to get dirty and throw down at a hometown cross race this weekend.  Beer gardens, cowbells, rowdy crowds, mud, rain, suffering and crashes are all embraced elements of the Northwest cross scene I'm growing to love...Good times!

The bike is ready for some suffering

Race Report:

After running a 5K at 9am I showed up for the cross race at 10:30 with some tired legs but plenty of enthusiasm.  5 laps in I limped across the line after suffering a dropped chain, gravel face-plant and a flat tire.  My initial enthusiasm was entirely extinguished.  Old Man Cross will be back to fight another day.
