Wet Socks and Diapers on a Dodge

January has been a pretty wet month by Northwest standards but I've still managed to get out on the bike and ramp up the training.  With the rain and cold comes even more reason to hit the hills for some mountain biking.  One spectacular day in the early part of the month featured blues skies and 5 inches of fresh snow....simply a majestic.

Outside of riding, we've been keeping ourselves busy by sinking into everyday life with a little more ambition.
Tonight I whipped out a new stir fry recipe then some carrot and apple flax muffins for the rest of the week while Lindsey cleaned out the pantry for the first time in 3 years.  Last night Linds rocked some awesome homemade Focaccia bread to go with our butternut squash raviolis.  I also finally built cabinet shelves and a door for our bathroom which has been a pending project since May of 2009.

Linds has been kickin some ass on the trails these days and busting out 13 mile runs like it's 1998.  Here's a shot of her after a recent half marathon race down the interurban trail.  She's in for a breakthrough Spring.

Looking forward to February, I'm excited to be working with a cycling coach who I hope will help me feel prepared for the upcoming season.  Having a coach doesn't mean you're hoping to race with the pros but trying to put it all together is more then half the battle and now I can turn that aspect over to someone else  while learning from the experience.

We'll also be a first time aunt and uncle at some point in the next week as Brendan and Sarah welcome Liam Dodge to our clan.  I'm ramping up my uncle skills in preparation for his arrival and can't wait to have a new partner in crime.

There's my January update and I've got to say there's been some guilt in neglecting this thing.  It's started to feel a bit like a homework assignment that's saved until Sunday night but for those 3 or 4 folks that check in every now and then...thanks for reading.
