We leave Friday for The Mount Hood Cycling Classic, my peak race of the season. This will not be a relaxing time spent in Hood River, Oregon. It will be 3 days and 4 races of suffering across some of the most EPIC terrain in the country.
This year is going to be a truly special experience. Cold Spring weather kept the mountain passes full of snow but the race officials have literally plowed forward clearing miles of snow to put this thing on. I will relish every moment of it
Here's some insight from the promoter...via facebook (be a fan!)
For those who have not done it, the 3 Summits course is the real deal. A legitimate alpine stage. The climbs are in your face and the descents are twisty, fast and super fun. Who knows how long these roads will be open to racing so get it while its there!
Just got off the phone with the plow contractor. They made good headway yesterday and have almost punched through on Summit #1 the Lost Lake Climb. He is reporting that the walls of snow on either side of the road are between 10-12 feet high at the summit. Headed up tomorrow to take pictures and will post tomorrow night. That is going to be impressive!
Inspecting Summit #1 climg on Lost Lake Branch road was absolutely astonishing. I have never in my racing career or promoting career seen anthing like it. It is truly going to be an epic experience for the riders.

| I hope we're going screaming fast down this stretch! |
And the forecasting calls for the best weather of the year...
For an amateur bike racer, it gets no better!
