Woolley Cross and Woodland Park GP

I've seriously neglected the mud this fall and last weekend presented an opportunity to make up for my sins.  With bipolar races on Saturday and Sunday, I tackled two of 2009's best courses. Saturday's Cascade Cross race in sleepy Sedro Woolley was a perfect setting for grinding out my first win.  There was just 7 racers in my category but I rode a good race and feel spectacular about broad improvement.

If Saturday's race was Dr. Jekyll, Sunday's MFG Woodland Park GP race was surely Mr. Hyde. 777 Racers fired up Seattle with 130 in the Cat 4's.  Music, camp fires, cow bells and crowds lined the whole course creating a carnival of cycling fans.  I was lucky to work my way into a good starting position and hit the course hard from the gun.  Despite going over the handle bars once and losing ground with several horrible turns, I pulled out a 3rd place finish.  With confidence on the upswing, it's a good time to upgrade.
